Cowboy

The date, 1996, one of the first photographs I took in Newburgh. He is also a photographer,  doing weddings and events. I saw him again a couple of years ago in the same hat.

Please see details of plans for an outdoor exhibition of my Newburgh pictures on Kickstarter.

  1. Your portraits are lovely - very striking. I grew up in Newburgh in the 60s and 70s and I have many friends and family who still live there. I know that your photos of the derelict houses and streets are accurate portrayals of parts of Newburgh. Dishearteningly, the city's long period of decline is far from over. But the photos you've posted on this site show only a sliver of Newburgh as it is today. There are many working class neighborhoods that atheir from the state of decay of the houses in your photos. there are also some rays of hope in contemporary Newburgh - the world class motorcycle museum on Lake Street, the Brewery that is being built, community theater, the restaurants and shops along the river. Additionally, besides the remnants of old Newburghs multiethnic past, the city has a vibrant Hispanic community which is nowhere to be seen n these photos.
